The Philadelphia Folksong Society Proudly Presents...
Fall Fling September 19-21, 2008
at Camp Kweebec in Schwenksville, PA
What is Fall Fling? Imagine a crisp fall day in a sylvan setting where the most difficult questions you have to face are, "Do I go to a workshop featuring classic folk songs of the 60's, pull out a T-shirt and create a tie-dye worthy of the memory of Jerry Garcia, wander over to a cabin for some informal jamming, get out a racket and smack the tennis ball around, jump in the pool for a swim, or simply collapse in a lounge chair and let the sounds of hundreds of people having fun wash over me?" These are just a few of the activities that can occur at the Fall Fling!
Fall Fling: A weekend retreat at a summer camp/resort in a country setting for musicians, dancers, appreciators, families and friends. The event includes the traditional Friday night arrival sing/pot-luck supper. Please bring some food to share if you can get there in time for the late supper/snack. Workshops -- including vocal and instrumental themes and styles, dance, massage, crafts, kid's activities, etc. -- run throughout the day Saturday and Sunday. On Friday evening there are many informal cabin jams. Saturday night brings the kids' Open Stage, and the Big Open Stage with professional lights and sound. Then campfires and lots more informal jamming in cabins, dining hall, gazebo and even lakeside, under the moon (moon willing).
ACCOMMODATIONS: Bunking is in cabins with toilets and showers. Each cabin holds about 10 to 20 people. Want to bunk with friends? Please take these limits into consideration. We do our best to align cabin requests, but we cannot guarantee all
requests. Please check with your friends and make sure they want to be with you, and you with them. There are designated cabins for "Late Jammers," "Early Risers," and "Family."
NO Smoking in Cabins or on Porches
MEALS on Saturday and Sunday are included. To serve and prepare meals and to make sure the Fall Fling runs smoothly, it's necessary for you to contribute 1 hour of your time to help serving meals, mess hall clean-up, setting up workshops and open stage, or beach patrol.
